Finding an Aerobic Exercise Program

Committing to an exercise program can be a big step in improving your overall health and feeling of well being.  An aerobic exercise program can really be the type of work out that will not only get you in shape, but keep you motivated to continue exercising.

What is An Aerobic Exercise Program?

There are many different types of aerobic exercise programs.  Some are very fast paced and require a lot of movement.  Others are considered low-impact and are better suited to people with issues with mobility. Aerobic exercise offers participants the benefits of increasing the heart rate and giving the heart and lungs a work-out.  Either type, allows for a person to receive the benefits of an aerobic exercise program.

A high impact aerobic exercise program can be like a step class or a spinning class.  Both of these require the participant to have a wide range of motion.  A step class offers the participant a high energy environment where the class moves to music and steps onto a platform called a step.  This type of aerobic exercise program involves different moves to music.  It can be a very energized and many feel very up-beat after attending a class.

A spinning class involves using a stationary bike.  There is an instructor and the class follows the movements on the bike made by the instructor.  The idea is to peddle fast making the heart rate increase and give the body a full work-out.

Low impact aerobic exercise allows for the benefits of raising the heart rate, but does not put as much stress on the body.  Some examples of low impact aerobic workouts include swimming or water exercise.  With both of these forms of exercise, people’s joints aren’t pushed to their limits.

For many, swimming is an ideal exercise aerobic exercise program.  The body is fully support in the water and allows for people with disabilities to move without putting strain on their bodies.  The movements in the water are also far easier for people to make, so an aerobic exercise program can be conducted while in the water.

Water aerobics are a great fit for people of all ages.  By incorporating rapid movement in the water, an instructor can get the participants heart rates up and they receive the benefits of an aerobic exercise program. With either a high or a low impact aerobic exercise program, a person will not only improve their body but also help make them have a stronger heart and lungs.
